Cinque Terre
the most charming string of villages you have ever seen in your life!

By Train or Boat and on foot
It is not suggested to go by car, especially in summer.
There are many tourists and few car parks. However, here is a link to the list of parking spaces: https://www.cinqueterre.eu.com/en/parking-cinque-terre
Another possibility is to drive until La Spezia and take a boat or the special train Cinque Terre Express from there. You can also simply take the train directly from Viareggio to La Spezia or straight to the 5 terre. Check on the Italian railway website trenitalia.com.
Here are the boat timetable and the train timetable.
Summer direct boat from Viareggio
During the summer months, there is a special boat leaving every day from Viareggio. Seek info here: https://www.navigazionegolfodeipoeti.it/it/viareggio-riviera-apuana
Special train ticket with Cinque Terre card
There is a special train ticket, 5 terre card, which allows you to hop in and out of the single villages for a day. It also gives you free access to the footpaths. You can also take a boat (see below)
You can find more information here: https://www.cinqueterre.eu.com/en/cinque-terre-card.
Moving from Village to Village: by boat, train or on foot
To move from village to village you can hop in and out to the special trains, you can use the local boat or even walk on the trails (you need the card to access them or you will have to pay a fee).
